Cause and Effect

Author’s Note: This is a cause and effect piece on the book Touching Spirit Bear by Ben Mikaelsen.
There can be many causes for the actions of a person. Like in the book Touching Spirit Bear by Ben Mikaelsen, Cole (the main character) is a mean bully who does some things that he will regret in the long run. But with the actions that happens there are causes that made him act like that. Even though there are many bad events that happen in the novel “Touching Spirit Bear," there are many reasons that these events happened.

Now as I was saying is that Cole makes some decisions in the story and there are reasons that he acts like that. One of the actions is Cole beating up Peter. There are many reasons that caused Cole beat up Peter. One reason is that Peter snitched on Cole for robbing a hardware store. But the main reason is because Cole has anger issues. He has anger issues because his Dad beats him for no reason, and his Dad doesn’t care about him at all.

Another decision that Cole makes is choosing to go to the island instead of jail. He had to either choose the island or jail because he beat up Peter. He beat him so bad that he was almost paralyzed, and by him being almost paralyzed Cole in the long run choose the island because he had been to jail before so he decided to go with the new option… Going to the stranded island.

One more thing that Cole did is that he tried to kill the spirit bear. He tried to do this because he thought that everyone and everything should be afraid of him. So he tried to take on the bear but in the long run Cole got mauled and almost got paralyzed by the bear.

To restate what I was saying is that most people will make some bad decisions. But with those decisions there can be many reasons that they happened. With those decisions and the result of the decisions they have to live with their mistake. This character reminds me of Greg Heffley from Diary of a Wimpy Kid because he makes a lot of bad decisions, such as having a party when his parents aren’t home and not telling them about it. Those are the events that happened and the reasons that they occurred in the book Touching Spirit Bear.
