Author’s Note: The author’s purpose for this is to compare and contrast the similarities and differences from between the book The Fighting Ground to real life.
Have you ever wondered how the book that you are reading partakes to real life? Well I have. In the book that I am reading called The Fighting Ground by Avi, a boy who is 13 that goes off to fight in a war vs. the Hessian soldiers. We all know that almost all books somehow have some sort similarities and differences to real life, especially in the book The Fighting Ground.
Although there are many examples of similarities and differences, I will be discussing the main points. Some examples of similarities to real life are that the battle that happened in the book also happened in real life. The way that they lined up in the book to go into war and fight the Hessians is the actual the way that they lined up during the actual war. These are some examples that show how there are similarities between the real world, and the book The Fighting Ground.
Now that I have told you the similarities to real life, it is now time for the differences. This story is clearly fiction. It is clearly fiction because there is no way that now days they would never let a 13 year old boy into the war. It would be against the law to let a boy of that age join the war, and it wouldn’t be useful either because they wouldn’t be quite developed or matured enough. Even though you could think that this book is real it really isn’t it is based on a real battle but all of the characters are fake which makes it fiction.
After those 4 examples of similarities and differences there are some more too. Another example of a similarity is that some thirteen year old boys want to join the war. Another difference to real life that is in this book is that the town that they are in and fighting for isn’t the real place that the Hessian soldiers wanted to win over.
As you can see, there are many different similarities and differences with the book The Fighting Ground by Avi and real life. I hope that now you understand better of the differences from the past to the present. Weather your comparing one thing to another, the majority of the time, there will be similarities and differences, as shown in this essay. Most books have similarities and differences to real life but this book has some very valid similarities and differences.
Good author's note and set up. The paragraphs could have been longer and you should use a clearer thesis statement. But i loved this piece
ReplyDeleteI feel that I deserve a 93% on my piece.I feel that it is a fair grade because it has some good descriptions and it was well made and I took a very long time on it.
