Author’s Note: This is a research
essay on the common cold.
What is the common
cold? The common cold is a virus that goes around at one particular time of
year and affects your body. The common cold is a lot like the flu accept very
different at the same time, but they both can be treated with the same things.
Some antibiotics. There are many different ways that it affects your body but
other than those ways there aren’t any secret ones. There are many different types of colds and
different types of symptoms you get when you have a cold and there is one
really specific time of year you get colds and there are main reasons you get
colds.
Considering all of
those things above what causes the common cold. Viruses cause the common cold.
“About half of the time a cold is caused by a class of viruses called
rhinoviruses.” This is the main type of cold and it affects adults and children
(What
causes the common cold?, 2012).
Now, there are
also cold and flu symptoms. The cold and flu are very similar. They are both
respiratory infections caused by viruses. If a cold is misdiagnosed and the flu
it isn’t a big deal. Even though you may think it may be a big deal it can at
worst cause ear infections or sinus infections which can both be treated with
antibiotics (Cold and Flu Symptoms, 2012).
Even thought
viruses cause the common cold there is a main time of year that you get colds. Cold
and Flu season is a virus that goes around all year long. This season happens during the cold parts of
the year. The flu and cold can sometimes be predicted or even tracked around
the globe. The beginning of cold and flu activity varies by location (Cold and
Flu Season, 2012).
So after all we
have learned you get a lot of symptoms when you get a cold. But the cold really
only goes around once a year and it gets tracked around the globe so you will
know when it comes into your town so don’t be scared. As you can see is that,
there are things that cause the common cold, things that happen to you when you
get a cold, and there is a time of year that you get colds.
